The recreational trail has been very well maintained. If you are cycling though, I implore you to watch your speed for the safety of yourself and others.
We had just a wonderful time at the beach here. It was clean and not too busy when we went. Lots of trails for biking or walking through dunes, forests, swamps and of course the beach. There's a beautiful lighthouse to gaze upon. There were lots of people camping, though not sure what the daily cost is. Daily park use was 8 dollars. Overall the place looked beautiful and will certainly visit again!
Beautiful location. No crowds. Peaceful and serene. I loved it. The fall colors were spectacular, and we had the park to ourselves.
Great beach. Nice sand, and you can walk along the shoreline for miles. Bit cold this time of year, but walking with the sound of waves is therapeutic. I just wish the restrooms were open. Bring your own water also as all the wster fountains are off also.
This is the one part that my family and I go to every year because it has the warmest water that I have found. The water is only hip deep for quite a ways out and I was a treat not to freeze and still get the experience of Lake Michigan waves. On the beach there is plenty to do with thousands of beautiful rocks seashells and bird feathers 2 keep young and old busy. **WARNING the sand is very hot.** on sunny days its just like walking on hot black top.
Wonderful forest with a variety of trails and places to explore. Bring bug spray if you aren't going to be on the rawley trail.
Point Beach is a beautiful park!! The campground sites are perfect - spacious, distanced, mostly shaded. Restrooms are kept spotless. It's the first campground I've ever been to that I didn't see garbage anywhere in the bushes/brush around the sites. The trails are clean, well maintained. The office has a direct connect phone line for after hours help with reserving, changing, or basic help with your site. One of my favorite parts was the separate dog friendly picnic area, trail, and beach access near the lighthouse. Everything is well marked and easily accessible. Oh!! And the 3pm Check In/Check Out time is awesome!! Gives you plenty of time to have breakfast, explore, pack up, and leave without rushing.
Watch out for the poison ivy in the campground. The beach is great, and goes on forever. The US Coast Guard owns the lighthouse and nearby property; no trespassing. However, you can contact the USCG and rent the keepers domicile.
